How it works

Three ways in. One answer.

Scan the menu

Point the camera at any menu. Paper, chalkboard, or screen. Take a second shot for the long ones.

Or search. Or paste a link.

Type the name, or paste a Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Yelp link before you go. Your Second Menu is ready when you arrive.

Order with the script

Complete orders, scored 0 to 100 against your targets. Main, side, and drink, with the exact words to say.

Same burger.
410 fewer calories.

No salad-shaming. The Slightly Better bucket keeps your usual order and changes one thing. Every result lands in one of four buckets, built for how people actually eat out.

Works at any restaurant

Chains are easy.
We read the chalkboard.

Other apps stop at the brands in their database. 2nd Menu starts there. The camera reads the paper menu at the diner, the specials board over the counter, the handwritten card at the trattoria. Menu in Spanish, Italian, or Chinese? You still get your answer in English.

And instant at the big ones

  • Chipotle
  • Starbucks
  • Sweetgreen
  • Chick-fil-A
  • McDonald's
  • Subway
  • Taco Bell
  • Panera

Top chains come pre-loaded with the nutrition tables the restaurants publish. They open with exact numbers, no loader.

Trust is the feature

Honest numbers.
Not big numbers.

Some apps show 99 on guessed data. We calibrate the score, label the guesswork, and let you check ours.

ExactEstimated

Exact or estimated. Always labeled.

Chain-published nutrition is marked exact. Camera reads are marked estimated, on every card, every time. No number pretends to be something it is not.

0 to 100the whole range gets used

Scores from a formula, not from AI vibes.

AI reads the menu. It never writes your numbers. Scores and macros come from a fixed calculation over nutrition data, so the same dish against the same targets always scores the same.

Your photo is deleted after parsing.

Only the menu photo you capture is uploaded, never your camera roll. It is removed from our servers the moment the menu is read.

Wrong number? Tell us.

Every result carries a report action that routes straight to our data review queue with the dish attached. That is how the tables get corrected.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

When can I get 2nd Menu?

2nd Menu is coming soon to the App Store, iPhone first. Email support@2ndmenu.com with the subject "Launch" and we will send exactly one email on launch day.

Does it only work at big chains?

No. Chains are the easy part: their menus are pre-loaded with exact, published nutrition and open instantly. Everywhere else, you scan the menu with the camera. Paper, chalkboard, or screen, it works at any restaurant.

Where do the nutrition numbers come from?

For large chains, from the nutrition tables the restaurant publishes. Those results are labeled exact. For every other menu, we estimate from the menu text using a model grounded in USDA food composition data, and those results are labeled estimated on every card.

Is this another calorie tracker?

No. Trackers work after you eat. 2nd Menu works before you order: it hands you complete orders scored against your goals, with the exact words to say. When you tap "I ordered this," the meal logs to your daily macro ring and Apple Health.

What happens to my menu photos?

Only a photo you explicitly capture in the app is uploaded, never your camera roll. Photos are used to read the menu text and are deleted from our servers once the menu has been parsed.

How much will it cost?

2nd Menu Pro will be a subscription with a free trial at launch. Final pricing appears on the App Store page.

What about Android?

iPhone first. Android is on the list, not yet on the calendar.
